Ask Shyra — Go DeeperShri Premanand Maharaj Ji speaks about anxiety with both compassion and directness. He says: most of what we worry about has not happened yet, and a large part of it never will. The worried mind takes a possible future and lives it right now, suffering today for something that may not come tomorrow. This is a very strange thing that the mind does — and it causes enormous pain.
His teaching is not to simply stop worrying — he knows that telling someone to stop worrying does not work. Instead, he points to the root. He says: anxiety comes from the belief that you are alone and responsible for managing everything. The ego believes: if I stop worrying, things will fall apart. But this is a lie. God is managing this creation. He was managing it before you were born and will manage it after you go. Your anxiety, however intense, has never once changed what God has already arranged.
His remedy is naam jap. When you feel anxiety rising, say 'Radhe Radhe' — quietly, repeatedly. Not as a magic formula, but as an act of turning toward God. You are saying with each repetition: I am putting this down. I am not carrying this alone. Maharaj Ji says that for those who do this consistently, over months and years, the episodes of anxiety genuinely reduce. Not because their circumstances become easier, but because the inner relationship with worry changes. You begin to recognise the worried thought and, instead of following it, you return to the naam. That returning is freedom.
