Shri Premanand Maharaj Ji describes the quality of emotional stability not as coldness or detachment, but as an inner steadiness — the ability to remain yourself even when circumstances are turbulent. He says: life will always have its ups and downs. That is the nature of this world. The goal of spiritual practice is not to stop the waves — it is to become a deep ocean, not easily disturbed by surface storms.

He teaches that this stability is built through consistent practice over time, not acquired in a single dramatic experience. Every day of naam jap, every return to God when the mind wanted to spiral into anxiety or anger, every moment of choosing peace over the ego's insistence on reaction — all of these are deposits in what he calls the 'inner account'. You may not feel richer day to day, but over months and years, the account grows. And when a real storm comes, you have resources you didn't know you had built.

He also speaks about the role of satsang in emotional stability. Being around devoted, peaceful people is itself a stabilising influence. Their inner peace is contagious, in the best way. He says: choose your company wisely. Spend time with those who talk about God, about gratitude, about service — not only about problems and complaints. The mind takes the shape of what it consistently dwells in. Fill it with bhakti, and it will become a steadier, kinder, more capable instrument.
