Ask Shyra — Go DeeperFew experiences are more disorienting for a devotee than praying sincerely and feeling that nothing has changed. Shri Premanand Maharaj Ji is asked about this often, and he answers it gently but without offering false comfort. He says: God heard your prayer. That is certain. The question is not whether He heard — it is whether He gave you what you asked for. And those are different things.
He teaches that God does not always give us what we ask — he gives us what we need, which is not always the same. He uses the analogy of a child who asks a loving parent for something that would harm them. The parent does not give it, not out of indifference but out of deeper love. We cannot always see our own situation as God sees it. What looks to us like a door that must open may be a door that, if opened, would lead somewhere difficult. He may be protecting you in a way you cannot see yet.
Maharaj Ji also says: sometimes prayers are answered in ways we don't recognise because we were looking for a specific outcome. The answer came as strength you didn't know you had, or a person who appeared at the right moment, or a peace that settled over you unexpectedly. He encourages devotees not to abandon their prayer or their bhakti when results don't come quickly. Keep going. Your prayers are building something inside you, whether or not the outer circumstances change. That inner building is the real answer.
